The legislative elections cannot be summed up in a single ballot, but in 577, as many as seats of deputies at stake. In 160 constituencies, the presidential majority of Emmanuel Macron did not manage to qualify as a candidate at the end of the first round, Sunday June 12. In 59 of them, the second round will see a candidate from the Nupes and a candidate from the National Rally compete on June 19.
What to do, then, for Macronist voters orphaned by their candidates? Hesitant, LREM officials first announced, on election night, that they would give instructions to the “case by case”, according to the profile of the candidate Nupes. Before changing their discourse, and recalling that “not a single voice should go to the RN”. The defeated candidates have had very variable statements.
