The essential: farewell to TVA Nouvelles

There is likely to be a lot of emotion in the air Thursday at TVA. After 46 years as anchor, Pierre Bruneau is retiring and hosting his very last newscast that day. Later in the evening, Sophie Thibault will say goodbye to TVA Nouvelles at 10 p.m., since she will replace Pierre Bruneau at TVA Nouvelles at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. after her summer vacation, starting August 22. Many followers of Pierre Bruneau dread the period of mourning they will have to go through after his departure. Small consolation: the undisputed darling of the public (who has 23 Artis trophies to his credit) will make a brief return to the air next fall to lead the TVA leaders’ debate, then election night.

VAT, Thursday at 6 p.m.

The safe bet: The fabulous spring of Marie-Lyne

Chantal Machabée and Marie-Lyne Joncas in The fabulous spring of Marie-Lyne

Last week of one of the great television surprises of the spring. We love the irreverent side of the host, the left-field questions she asks her guests, the nervous direction of François Lachapelle and Anicée Ouellet, the generosity of the guests in interviews… To close this first season, Marie- Lyne Joncas receives Bruno Blanchet on Monday, Guillaume Pineault on Tuesday, Chantal Machabée on Wednesday and Rosalie Vaillancourt on Thursday. Can we ask the leaders of Noovo to plan right now to Fabulous Summer, Fall and Winter by Marie-Lyne ?

Noovo, Monday to Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (rebroadcast at 10:30 p.m.)

The novelty : Added value

Veronique Cloutier in Added value

Although this is another one-on-one interview show conducted by Véronique CloutierAdded value Has nothing to do with Mirror. We realize this from the outset when we see the more down-to-earth decor of a brick loft, far from the futuristic-neon look of the other series. Here, each half hour is articulated around a personality who embodies a specific value. In the first episode, Véronique discusses integrity with Patrick Huard. The facilitator’s questions spark interesting discussions. This first season includes interviews with Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette (commitment), Louise Richer (dedication), Yama Laurent (resilience) and Isabelle Hudon (ambition).

drunken birds

After collecting 10 Iris awards at the Gala Québec Cinéma, including Best Film, drunken birds lands on Crave. Starring Jorge Antonio Guerrero, Hélène Florent, Claude Legault and Marine Johnson, director Ivan Grbovic’s drama, co-scripted with Sara Mishara, tells the story of a seasonal worker and the people who hire him in Quebec, a welcoming but undermined by several intimate conflicts. It should be noted that the platform offers four other works crowned with at least one Iris trophy: Maria Chapdeleine, The time grabber, like a wave (Best Documentary Feature) and Bootlegger (best first film).
