Until now, Marseille had only one left-wing deputy: it was Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the fourth constituency. That may well change at the end of the week. Effect, of the seven constituencies that make up the second city of France, the New popular, ecological and social union (NUPES) climbs to the final in five of them. Marseille thus confirms the good results of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential election, where he came first in Marseille with 31.12% of the vote.
Two deputies from the presidential majority have already lost their seats.
Five new names for NUPES in Marseille
Thus, in the 4th constituencyManuel Bompard (56.03%) should win on Sunday ahead of the presidential majority candidate Najat Akokad who comes far behind (14.88%). The Insoummis candidate misses the election in the first round because of the low turnout (more than 61% abstention).
In the 3rd district, Mohammad Bensaada (27.73%) is ahead of RN Gisèle Lelouis (25.34%). Outgoing MP Alexandra Louis is not qualified for the second round (21.87%) with a thousand votes behind.
In the 5th district, Hendrik David (40.3%) is well ahead of outgoing majority MP Cathy Racon-Bouzon (23.41%) who will find it difficult to catch up.
In the 7th constituency, the outgoing deputy of the majority Saïd Ahamada (15.8%) is swept away by Sebastien Delogua close friend of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who won 37.88% of the vote, ahead of RN Arezski Selloum (23.19%).
An outgoing member of the majority still has a chance of winning, it is Claire Pitollat in the 2nd constituency (29.85%) ahead of the candidate NUPES alexander rupnik (25.07%).
As Benoît Payan points out, in a press release: “In Marseille, voters have chosen to place the gathering of the left and environmentalists at the top of the ballot”, what for the mayor of Marseille “shows that unity brings hope.”
Two new majority candidates in the second round
In the first district of Marseilles, Sabrina Agresti Roubache (25.42%) will have to convince to beat the RN candidate Monique Grisetti who comes out on top in the first round (27.26%).
In the 6th constituency, Lionel Royer-Perreaut, ex-LR who joined the presidential majority, succeeds in his bet. He leads the first round with 29.75% of the vote ahead of RN Eléonore Bez (23.89%).
The RN climbs to the second round in four out of seven constituencies in Marseille.
