Tardets, or Tardets-Sorholus, village of Haute-Soule surrounded by mountains and villages like Alos-Sibas-Abense, Trois-Villes or Camou-Cihigue. It is a very dynamic village with sport, a very lively culture and warm, welcoming inhabitants who love their village.
Restaurant The Pyrenees
Patrick Abadie has been the boss of the restaurant Les Pyrénées for a few years now, but this restaurant is a family affair since it has belonged to his family for several generations. Patrick is in the kitchen and offers dishes inspired by world cuisine. One of his specialties is a family invention, the priest’s omelette, which you can enjoy all year round.
The Zibero Sport Tardets
It was a sports teacher who came to settle in Tardets in 1953 who had the idea of starting a handball team when he saw the young people of the village who were skilled with their bodies, playing pelota. Since then, the Zibero club has evolved and is one of the oldest handball clubs in the Pyrénées Atlantiques. This club brings together young people from the village but also from surrounding villages by instilling in them important values present in this sport. At all levels, the different teams, women’s and men’s, have very good results. This year, the senior boys have achieved a great performance, they are going up to National 1.
Eco picnics
Every summer, the municipality of Tardets organizes eco-picnics on the banks of the Saison. That is to say that evenings are offered in which they bring in music groups and local producers with planchas made available. Residents and tourists can therefore buy food on site but can also come with their own picnic. The goal being, of course, to come with your cutlery, your glasses, in order to have an eco-responsible approach. Next appointment is June 24 with the Cumbiam’bero group!
A very cultural village
Tardets is a village with a big cultural imprint. Firstly because of its location, Tardets being in Soule, there are necessarily dances and songs that are very present there. Souletine dance is a dance with its own steps. On the other hand, the city is twinned with a Navarese city, Ochagavia, also culturally very marked.
In Tardets, there is also the carnival which is an unmissable party as well as the masquerade.
