Participation in the first round of the legislative elections, Sunday April 12, stood at 39.42% at 5 p.m. according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior. This represents a one-point drop from the 2017 elections, which recorded 40.75% turnout at the same time. That year, a record number of abstentions had been recorded at the end of the day.

The highest turnout at this time of day was recorded in 2002: at the time, 50.51% of voters went to the polls at 5 p.m.
This drop was already visible in the midday figures: 18.43% of voters had moved, against 19.24% in 2017.
While these figures give a first indication of voter mobilization, they do not yet allow conclusions to be drawn as to final turnout. While there was less than 0.5 points of difference between the turnout at noon in 2002 and that of 2017, these two elections had finally recorded markedly different levels of mobilization (64.42% in 2002, 48.70% in 2017).
Turnout is also significantly lower than that recorded in the first round during the presidential election last April. At the same time, 65% of voters had cast their ballots at the polls.
