The duel between Ferrari and Red Bull continues in Formula 1. In the qualifying session of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Saturday June 11, Charles Leclerc took his fourth consecutive pole position ahead of his Red Bull rivals Sergio Pérez and Max Verstappen. The Monegasque must now build on this position in victory, which he failed to do during the three previous poles.

His teammate in the Italian team, Carlos Sainz, took fourth place, while Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) will start on the third row on Sunday, just ahead of vice-world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), 7th .

Poleman Charles Leclerc was unstoppable. Already dominating during free practice at the start of the weekend, the Ferrari driver repeated his performance from the last three qualifying sessions and will start in the lead on Sunday (1 p.m.), like last year. During Q3, the Monegasque was not far from seeing his teammate accompany him on the front row but the Red Bulls reacted two minutes from the end of the clock.

Winner in Monaco and last year on the same urban track, Sergio Pérez will try to put pressure on the red single-seater from the first corner. The reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, will start again behind his teammate for the third time this season, as was the case in the principality 15 days ago.

Behind the duel between the two manufacturers, Mercedes is content, once again, with the crumbs. George Russell did better than Lewis Hamilton (7th) by taking 5th place, just ahead of French driver Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri).
