A 4-year-old toddler drowned on Saturday afternoon in a residential swimming pool in Saint-Lambert.

The Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) received a call around 4:10 p.m. concerning a young boy found lifeless in a family swimming pool on avenue de Normandie, in Saint-Lambert.
Arrived on the spot, the police began resuscitation maneuvers on the child, which they continued, in vain, until his transfer to a hospital in the area. His death was pronounced shortly after 5 p.m.
The toddler’s family was present at the time of the tragic event.
An ongoing investigation should establish the circumstances of the drowning. “What were the accesses to the swimming pool? What was the monitoring? This is what the investigation will be able to determine in the coming hours and days,” said François Boucher, SPAL public relations officer.
