Trafficking in fake admission tickets to the Louvre Museum in Paris was dismantled in Paris on Wednesday and fourteen people were arrested, we learned on Saturday from a police source.
The members of the network collected the paper or electronic tickets from visitors who had just completed the tour of the museum, before reselling them for more than the purchase price to tourists who were in the queue, according to the daily newspaper Le Parisien.
The police operation “made it possible to arrest 14 individuals, eight of whom were placed in police custody”, specifies the police source. “The six others, in an irregular situation, have been placed in detention as part of the ongoing investigation”.
The Louvre Museum, which welcomed 2.8 million visitors in 2021, welcomed around 10 million visitors per year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
