The war in Ukraine also affects children. In Mariupol, an eight-year-old boy went through hell.
Some drawings of tanks, scribbled. A few lines, placed here and there in a notebook. This is the diary of Egor, a little Ukrainian boy who recounts his daily life. In this passage, he describes all the violence of war with his own words, those of an eight-year-old child. “I have a wound in my back, my skin is torn. There is a cut on my sister’s head, my mother has torn hand muscles and a hole in her leg”says Egor.
Originally from Mariupol (Ukraine), a city now under Russian control, the family lived through the assaults of Vladimir Putin’s troops. In pictures, Egor’s mother shows what remains of their house. The family is now a refugee in Zaporijia, controlled by the Ukrainians. Since then, Egor has not resumed his diary. The rest of the family is still in Mariupol. Today, the boy only wants one thing: to see his grandparents again.
