Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska | Man dies after collision

(Montreal) An octogenarian from Victoriaville lost his life after a collision on Route 116 in Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska, in the Centre-du-Québec region, Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred near Chicago Rang around 4:30 p.m., when the driver of a vehicle stopped on the side of westbound Route 116 wanted to make a U-turn to go eastbound, explained the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Stéphane Tremblay.

The vehicle was then hit by a heavy truck traveling westbound. As a result of this impact, the vehicle collided with another vehicle traveling eastbound.

The driver who wanted to turn around was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The other two drivers were not injured, but the truck ended up in the ditch.

Route 116 has been closed in both directions between Pie-IX Boulevard and Kirouac Road.
