Around 6:10 p.m., several bullets were fired at the corner of Perras and Rodolphe-Forget boulevards, in eastern Montreal. A moving vehicle, in which at least one person was, fired on a second vehicle which was also moving, explains Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Service de police de la ville de Montréal (SPVM).
When the police arrived, several casings were found on Boulevard Perras. A security perimeter was erected on site, mentions the SPVM.
Several searches were carried out by the authorities in the area to find a potential point of impact or even victims, without success. “The investigators heading to the scene to conclude an analysis and find out a little more about the circumstances” which led to this attack, adds Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The investigation is currently open. No suspects have been identified at this time.
On May 24, shots had reached a disused daycare center, again in the Rivière-des-Praries sector. Shots also rang out in this sector in the following days, on May 27 and 30.
Wednesday’s event comes shortly after the SPVM presented its report for the year 2021, in which we can see a significant increase in crimes against the person in Montreal.
