During this latest episode of armed violence, a shot rang out at the corner of Perras and Rodolphe-Forget boulevards around 6:10 p.m.

When the police arrived, no injuries or projectile impact could be found, but a casing was recovered from the crime scene, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM).

“According to the first information that the police were able to obtain by meeting witnesses, it would be a moving vehicle which would have fired towards a second vehicle”, specified the agent Brabant.

No suspects have been arrested. An investigation has been opened to try to find out more.

The neighborhood has been the scene of several episodes of gun violence in recent weeks. Notably, gunfire reached a disused daycare center on May 24, while other buildings were targeted on May 27 and 31.

These events come as the federal government announced its intention to freeze transactions involving handguns in the country starting in the fall, in the hope of reducing the number of weapons in circulation.
