A man lost his life on Tuesday night in a Montreal hospital after being the victim of a shooting at the very end of the evening, the day before, in the southwest of the city.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) specifies that the 34-year-old man was known to police circles. At daybreak, no arrests had yet been made.
Police were alerted by a phone call made to the 911 emergency center around 11:30 p.m. Monday. A shooting had just occurred in the Lachine borough, at the intersection of Saint-Pierre Avenue and Richmond Street, which runs along Highway 20.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured man. He was already in bad shape before he arrived at the hospital.
A security perimeter was erected at the intersection, in a residential and commercial sector.
Investigators from the SPVM’s Major Crimes Squad are due to attend and police were searching the neighborhood early Tuesday for surveillance cameras to see if any footage that could help their investigation may have been captured .
This is the eleventh homicide to have been committed since the beginning of the year on the territory of the Montreal police.
