In the lead since the start of this second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné with four other riders, Alexis Vuillermoz (TotalEnergies) beat his breakaway companions at Brives-Charensac on Monday June 6. He beat the Norwegian Anders Skaarseth (Uno-X Pro) and Olivier Le Gac (Groupama-FDJ). The latter started the sprint early, and couldn’t prevent Vuillermoz from coming back.
The runner of the Vendée formation seizes, at the same time, the yellow jersey. He is ahead of Skaarseth by three seconds and Le Gac by four seconds. Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), victorious in the first stage on Sunday, is fourth overall. Intercalated in the peloton, his formation accelerated in the last kilometers but could not come back to the leading group.
