“Cash Investigation”. Agriculture: where have Europe’s billions gone? – France 2 – 7 June 2022

The CAP, or Common Agricultural Policy, is the European Union’s second largest budget, with 55 billion euros paid out each year. And France is the first country to benefit from it with 9 billion euros per year… but this money does not always go to the farmers. Some French farmers receive nothing, while large groups pocket several million euros in subsidies each year.

An unfair CAP since half of the grants allocated go to 20% of beneficiaries, when 80% must share the rest. Since 2015, part of these subsidies must be used to preserve biodiversity and fight against agricultural pollution: this is the “green payment”. This new issue of the magazine Cash Investigation” (Facebook, Twitter, #cashinvestigati) reveals that this green revolution has cost billions of euros but that its ecological objectives are far from being achieved.

A billionaire took advantage of taxpayers’ money

Journalist Véronique Blanc also investigated stories of CAP aid fraud in Corsica. Public money that would have been embezzled and has never been reimbursed… despite the alerts from Europe. And the investigation into these frauds will lead the team of the magazine presented on France 2 by Elise Lucet on one last track…

A billionaire at the head of a multinational has taken advantage of taxpayers’ money by grabbing European land and subsidies. Andrej Babiš is the most powerful man in the Czech Republic. Prime Minister from 2017 to December 2021, this political leader is also the second richest man in his country…

Agriculture: where have Europe’s billions gone?“, an investigation by Véronique Blanc, broadcast Tuesday June 7, 2022 at 9:10 p.m. on France 2.
