“My candidacy did not convince”, admits this Sunday, Manuel Valls. The former Prime Minister and therefore ex-candidate for the legislative elections announced his defeat on Twitter. He had been invested by the presidential party in the 5th constituency of French people living abroad, which notably includes Spain and Portugal.
“I take note of the results (…) If dissent and division have sown confusion, I cannot ignore my score and the fact that my candidacy did not convince”he said on Twitter, calling for the Nupes candidate, Renaud Le Berre, to be blocked in the second round.
Stéphane Vojetta, the dissident candidate, who had lost the nomination of the presidential party to the benefit of the former Prime Minister, rose to the second round against the Nupes candidate Renaud Le Berre.
Polynesia and the French residing abroad, some of whom have already been able to vote online, were expected at the polls this weekend for the first round of legislative elections, Saturday for the American continent and the Caribbean, and Sunday for the rest of the world. In mainland France, the first and second rounds will take place on June 12 and 19.
