Covid-19 cases are on the rise again in France. Specialists fear the arrival of a new wave this summer.

While the barrier measures against Covid-19 have been eased, the number of contaminations has been on the rise in recent days. “Positive cases are 22,354, an increase of 26% over one weekexplains journalist Frédérique Prabonnaud, present on Saturday June 4 on the 19/20 set of France 3. Far from the 140,000 cases at the start of April all the same, but we could expect a continuity in the decline with the arrival of fine weather.

Specialists explain this increase by the relaxation of barrier measures but also by the arrival of new sub-variants of Omicron. These are more transmissible, and the University of Geneva projects a more marked rebound in the epidemic in the Île-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie regions. At the moment, hospital admissions remain down, but the High Ahealth authority recommends anticipating a vaccine recall campaign for the fall for those most at risk.
