Two people were shot and injured by police this Saturday morning in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, franceinfo learned from a police source confirming information from BFMTV.
During a check for failure to wear seat belts, four people fled in their vehicle. They ran into a crew of police on mountain bikes. The police used their administrative weapon to stop the car, at the foot of the Montmartre hill in the north of the capital, at a crossroads at rue Clignancourt and rue Custine.
The driver and a passenger were seriously injured and taken to hospital. The other two people were not injured. According to our information, among the passengers, some are known to the police. They said they used alcohol and cannabis.
Two investigations have been opened: the first for “attempted intentional homicide on a person holding public authority” was entrusted to the 2nd district of the Paris judicial police. The second for “willful violence with a weapon by persons holding public authority” was entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
