Some novelties in the book Read

The Reading notebook team is taking advantage of the return of summer and the fiery revival of the cultural sector to make a few small changes.

First of all, the Reading notebook reconnects with literary creation and welcomes the new Style libre section. Each week, authors Melissa Maya Falkenberg (Montreal always, Rock’n’Meow), Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay (The daughter of her-same), Chloé Savoie-Bernard (kingdom scotch tape, Splendor) and Marie-Helene Poitras (Griffintown, The desire) will write in turn on subjects that touch them, challenge them or shock them, in the form that they like. Melissa Maya Falkenberg has the honor of inaugurating the space (see page 21).

The chronicle of Louis Cornellier, beacon in the night, remains, of course, faithful to the post.

In order to better guide you in your reading choices, the reviews are now gathered in the central pages (see pages 22 and 23), which will accommodate more short formats, allowing us to identify more books. Long-format reviews, cross reviews on a common theme as well as in-depth interviews, wide angles and seasonal series obviously remain the locomotives of the book. Moreover, we are preparing two series for the summer, which will appear in July and August.

Last little change: every week, in rotation, a duo of journalists will offer you a selection of publications that are worth seeing in terms of poetry, thrillers, children’s literature and comics. The sum of their expertise, sensibilities and preferences will enhance our monthly suggestions for these four literary genres.

This Reading notebook is also a bit special since it is the annual “Summer Readings” event. In this edition and that of June 11, our critics will exceptionally present their favorites of the current year, just to help you stock up for the beautiful season.

Happy summer, and happy reading!
