The operation and management of the sites will be entrusted to the American Premier Parks, whose portfolio already includes 13 different properties, including the Wet’n’Wild water parks in Toronto and Hawaii.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Despite the change in ownership, Groupe Calypso-Valcartier will continue to be led by its current President and Chief Operating Officer, Sylvain Lauzon.

All jobs are retained and the “distinct flavor” of each park will be presented as an essential commercial argument in its specific market, the group said in a press release.

Founded in 1963 by Adrien Drouin as a winter sledding center, the family business in the Quebec City region has grown steadily to become a four-season resort. In 2010, she opened the Calypso water park in the Ottawa region.

“Quebec is a very special market whose specificity we know,” assured in the press release the president and general manager of Premier Parks, Kieran Burke.

“We are committed to honoring the legacy of the Drouin family, not to changing the essence of what was built here and embraced by so many in Eastern Canada. We have great confidence in the current management teams and in the leadership of Sylvain Lauzon. »
