The Minister of the Interior, under pressure for four days, explains on the evening of Wednesday June 1 before the senators. Gerald Darmanin concedes excuses, recognizes dysfunctions and disproportionate gestures of the police. However, he stands by his statements: according to him, 30,000 to 40,000 fans tried to attend the match with fake tickets, or without tickets .

His hearing began with an apology. “We very sincerely regret the excesses”said Gerald Darmanin. Then he persisted in his statements: according to him, there were indeed 30,000 to 40,000 supporters with fake tickets, or without tickets, surroundings of the Stade de France on Saturday 28 May. According to the calculations presented to the senators, 79,000 supporters came by public transport, 31,000 thanks to buses, taxis or personal vehicles, i.e. 110,000 spectators while the stadium can only contain 80,000.

For the minister, the spectators who could not return left on the RER in the other direction. On the number of counterfeit banknotes, Gérald Darmanin remained vague. He invited the British and Spanish supporters concerned to lodge a complaint via a simplified procedure. According to him, the party was ruined.
