Friends who tell each other everything. Indeed, in friendship, being there for the person who matters to us is very important. But telling her what we don’t like about her is just as important, in order to maintain a good relationship and that no toxic element comes to harm a story. Géraldine Nakache and Leïla Bekhti know this very well and it is also for this reason that their friendship has lasted for so long. The two actresses have played in many films together, but it’s Everything that shines which brought them together for the first time in the cinema.
A feature film that Géraldine Nakache has not forgotten and that she wanted to discuss during her time in As an aside on Canal +, this Monday, May 30. The actress returned in particular to the difficulty of finishing the writing of this project, which took her many years. “It’s crazy, everything was a surprise. I fought for a long time to make it because even on the days when I didn’t believe it”she admits at first before adding: “I had this little voice that told me that if I had it that bad in my stomach I had to tell it, whatever the outcome. There were six years between the time I started to write this film and where it was released. We did it by believing in it and by working a lot”.
This annoying flaw
But before hiring Leïla Bekhti for the project, Géraldine Nakache knew very little about Tahar Rahim’s companion. It is by discovering it in the film bad faith that she falls “in love” with her acting skills and uses schemes to meet her. Managing to get her to come to a show she was producing for the promotion of a film, she then takes her courage in both hands to try to convince her: “It took me a while to talk to him about All That Glitters because the idea of the project paralyzed me and then I ended up telling him. It’s only three years later that we meet again. We tells this story of friendship by being friends ourselves”.
Since then, their friendship has never been shattered, quite the contrary. And this despite the fact that a trait of the personality of Leïla Bekhti seems to annoy Géraldine Nakache to the highest degree as she confided in her interview. “She sees when I’m not telling the truth”she explains before admitting that she finds it “unbearable” but not enough to end their relationship.
