It will be at the confluence of the needs of readers and the many talents of the editorial staff of the To have to : Malorie Beauchemin becomes news director, and it is with confidence and pride that we entrust her with the reins of the newsroom.
Mme Beauchemin entered the To have to in February 2021 as Deputy Director of Information, in charge of part of the team of journalists assigned to news, but also of the political and data visualization teams. Under the aegis of the editor-in-chief, the drafting of the To have to now has more than 100 employees led by the information department and its team of 12 assistants, each with a specific mandate. Mme Beauchemin succeeds Florent Daudens, who is leaving his post as director of information to embrace a new challenge.
“Malorie’s professional background and skills make her the perfect candidate to fill the position of director of information”, said the director of the To have to, Brian Myles. “She adheres to our plan to publicize The duty to a larger community of readers. She will bring the rigor and humanism that we all know her to take up brilliantly, I am sure, the challenges of everyday life. »
Malorie Beauchemin’s track record is rich, as a journalist, but also in management positions. To The Presswhere she worked before joining the To have to, she was first a supernumerary journalist, then a parliamentary correspondent in Quebec, and then in Ottawa, to become in 2011 head of the general information division. From then on, the management and supervisory functions followed one another: as director of general information from 2015, she supervised the investigation teams, the political offices, the World, Sports, Major Reports and News sectors. In 2019, she became Senior Director of Information, Arts and Being, Inspiration and Auto.
Since she arrived with us, we have been seduced by her enthusiasm and her contagious dynamism, her love of news and her great ability to rally the troops around her, all qualities that will serve her in her new role. Malorie Beauchemin arrives at a time when The duty pursues its digital transition more vigorously, hopes to expand its audience and offer more and diversified content, in different forms, to its readers. We wish him — and us by extension — exhilarating success!
