Consumer associations are concerned, Monday, May 30, about an 8% increase in the price of electricity in 2023. Bercy reacted immediately and assured that no catch-up would be applied to the bills.

Will we pay more for electricity? After an increase limited to 4% in 2022 by the government, according to the Energy Regulation Commission, the tariffs should be increased by 8% in 2023. That is 150 euros more per year, for a family of four heating with electricity.

The increase would be used to offset money advanced by energy suppliers. In the afternoon, Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, wanted to reassure: “French consumers will not see any catch-up related to this financing need on their bill in 2023”. Lhe Association Consumption Housing and Living Environment (CLCV) calls for a review of the market.
