(Paris) Sat 31e victory in a row opened the doors to the round of 16 at Roland-Garros: world No.1 Iga Swiatek continued her insane series against Montenegrin Danka Kovinic (95e), extinguished 6-3, 7-5 on Saturday in the third round.

Still without dropping a set but with less ease than in the first two rounds, the Pole rallied after an hour and a half sharp on the court for the round of 16. As always since its first participation in 2019.
The winner of the 2020 edition, less precise than usual – guilty of 23 unforced errors for only 13 winning strokes – however experienced an air hole in the second set: two service games lost, four consecutive in total because of a series of 10 dropped points in a row.
Leaving so many games (8) in a match had not happened to Iga Swiatek for over a month and her semi-final in Stuttgart against Russian Liudmila Samsonova (victory in three sets 6-7 (4/7) , 6-4, 7-5 in just over three hours).
Put in difficulty by the heavy and precise service of Kovinic, present for the first time in the third round of the Parisian Grand Slam, Swiatek had to “switch in [s]on reception mode compared to the first two rounds, ”against less powerful players, she delivered on the court.
