Kate Middleton plays Mary Poppins with William for a garden party in the rain!

At a time when Queen Elizabeth II is still cleaning up a little as her platinum jubilee approaches, the other active members of the royal family are increasing their appearances at official events. Each year, small country parties are organized in the gardens of Buckingham Palace to celebrate the arrival of summer. Summer, precisely, is not that yet. This Wednesday, May 25, it was under large umbrellas that the guests took advantage of the invitation they had received. Among them, of course, Kate Middleton and Prince William, more chic than ever!

The Duke of Cambridge, like his uncle, Prince Edward accompanied by his wife Sophie, was dressed in an elegant and sober tailcoat suit, waistcoat and perfectly tied tie, trousers and top hat. Kate Middleton had meanwhile bet on much more joyful tones despite the grayness. The mother of George, Charlotte and Louis wore a very elegant pastel dress, water green, which she already wore for the 50th anniversary of the investiture ceremony of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales and which she had dressed in a hat on top of which an enormous flower sat enthroned. A unique look since it was made by the duchess’s official seamstress.

The rain that came did nothing to spoil these celebrations. The members of the Windsor clan, including Sophie of Wessex but also Princess Beatrice of York, snug umbrellas above their heads, took the time necessary to chat with the many guests. The exchanges were joyful and perky, to see the multiple smiles and knowing glances that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge exchanged during the event.

Will the atmosphere be the same in the coming days? After the announcement of the exclusion of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from the balcony of Buckingham for the famous parade Trooping the Color, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed their visit to British soil for the 70 years of reign of the Queen Elizabeth II. The Sovereign will finally meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet for the first time, whose first birthday will be celebrated on June 4. Let’s hope family tensions don’t spoil the party.
