Thirteen years after having stopped everything, Diam’s has decided to deliver a final gift to its public by unveiling a documentary called Salam. Presented in preview at the Cannes Film Festival, the project aims to deliver truths about the former rapper that she never dared to mention.
And if she agreed to come back into the light, it’s not for nothing. Diam’s explained this on Instagram and justified herself in the following way: “My depression, my suffering, my quest, my rebirth: a film? an entertainment ? (…) I was touched that people were interested in my background, but it was impossible for me to let strangers speak for me. So I took up the pen again. The one with which I have always liked to indulge (…) There is certainly the story of Diam’s behind the woman I am today, but it is also a human story, and a quest that can echo the story of so many people wondering how to find inner peace while lost in the maze of life”.
Moreover, a first extract has been unveiled. In this one, Diam’s confides in his darkest thoughts and then launches:I thought about death more and more, but said nothing. I kept pretending. Besides, sometimes I wonder: how many of us had to do. More days passed. The deeper I sank. Like the feeling of getting bogged down and falling into the void (…) The music was loud, so loud, it stifled the cry of my soul which screamed ‘help’. For me, everything was empty. Empty like this life I was leading, empty of meaning, surrounded by greedy people, money, girls, stupid debates.
A few hours ago, BrutX unveiled a trailer that did not go unnoticed. Gad Elmaleh even commented on the video saying: “Thrill. Of truth. I can’t wait to find out”. An opinion shared by many fans who are eager to be able to discover more about the one they have been missing for so many years.
