He plays the role of Yamar in the rap series “Validé”, directed by Franck Gastambide. Journalist Jason Divengele met comedian Rachid Guellaz at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. The opportunity to look back at the start of his career.
“I was waiting for a casting that had nothing to do with it, I was a little ahead. I saw on a door ‘Casting Validated’ and I knocked. By chance at that time, he was looking for my character. I tried and I got caught” recalls Rachid Guellaz.
Since then, he has starred in both seasons of the rap series “Validé”. The actor explains that if he hadn’t had the audacity to knock on that door and go in, he wouldn’t be here today.
“I come from Tours. I didn’t have much of a cinematographic or theatrical culture. I am in the world of judo at the base” says the actor.
“I’m also here to show other people that it’s possible. Thanks to directors who are open-minded, it can help people to have confidence in themselves and to tell themselves that it is possible” concludes Rachid Guellaz.
