The third vice-president of the Union of professionals and professionals of the government of Quebec (SPGQ), Guillaume Bouvrette, affirms in a press release published Thursday that the union members are insulted by the wage offer of Revenu Quebec aimed at renewing their collective agreement expired since March 2021.
The union specifies that this offer provides for wage increases of 2% per year, retroactive to 2020 and 2021 and for 2022. Mr. Bouvrette recalls that the inflation rate was measured in April in Canada at nearly 7%.
In his opinion, the union members of Revenu Québec have worked tirelessly to maintain state services, in often difficult conditions, throughout the health crisis. According to him, the employer’s offer amounts to a betrayal, a kiss from Judas.
The union wants to tackle the gap in overall compensation between the personnel of Revenu Québec and that of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), whose remuneration would be 30% higher in certain cases and who benefit from a 100% indexed pension plan.
Guillaume Bouvrette also criticizes the employer for wanting to establish a sub-category of part-time professionals with atypical schedules with conditions inferior to the others, as well as a unilateral telework plan, while the CRA favors flexibility. , he said.
In his opinion, Revenu Québec risks causing a wave of departures to the Canada Revenue Agency and the private sector.
Union members mainly occupy jobs in the fields of administration, communications, accounting, auditing, collections and investigations, law, taxation, human resources and information technology.
