Jackpot for Nagui! The 60-year-old host has just won a small fortune, as revealed by our colleagues from Capital this Wednesday, May 25, 2022. He decided to sell part of its shares of the company in which he is a shareholder, Banijay Group, last fall, namely 0.1%. A small percentage which nevertheless allowed him to win the dizzying sum of€1.26 million. It was the production company itself that bought back his shares.
Nagui has had the means to make pocket money for several years now thanks to his investments at Banijay. At the end of 2018, the husband of Mélanie Page held 5.3% of capital of the group of Stéphane Courbit, which then represented a value of 23 million euros. But he will have waited some time before getting rid of his commitments to get a check. And rightly so since in four years, the company has increased in value. In 2018, it was estimated at 465 million euros and in 2021, at one billion euros. Either when Nagui sold 0.1% of his capital. And now listed on the stock market, Banijay Group has a value of around 2 billion euros (5 billion with debt), specifies Capital.
This great success is due in particular to the popular programs he produces, including Do not forget the lyrics Where Taratata for France 2, both presented by Nagui. Stéphane Courbit’s box has also developed well by successively buying its competitors Zodiak then Endemol. Banijay Group is now the world’s leading independent producer. Contacted by Capital, neither Nagui nor his press officer Françoise Doux wished to react.
Note that Nagui is at the same time still very well paid by France Télévisions. According to Mediapartbetween 2017 and 2020, he would have received 100 million euros thanks to a multi-year contract encompassing all its programs on France 2. “This amount includes Nagui’s salary as an animator, but also all the services sold by his production company (concepts, film crews, etc.)“, we learned in 2020.
