Châteauroux back in the race to organize sports shooting events assures the Team

A step forward… a step back… The funny dance of the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games continues around the file of the Sport Shooting events! And according to our colleagues from the sports daily l’Équipe, Châteauroux would again hold the rope for the organization of the events! A new twist in a highly sensitive and political issue

Indeed, last January France Bleu Berry revealed for the first time the possibility that the National Center for Sports Shooting in Châteauroux-Déols could host the shooting events of the 2024 Olympic Games just two and a half weeks before 600 elected officials from Indre signed a common platform to support this choice. But from February 9 the OCOG showered – officially – Berry hopes ensuring that Châteauroux was “not a working option” for the organizers and that the first site considered, that of La Courneuve, remained the one and only choice.

A facade position affirms today the team so as not to offend the elected officials of Seine-Saint-Denis. According to our colleagues from the sports daily, the center of Châteauroux, much larger than what the Courneuve site can offer to its maximum and above all already built and therefore not requiring costly depollution investments, would already have behind the scenes “OCOG preference“. A single argument, but not negligible, counterbalances this choice: the distance between Paris and Châteauroux which taints the promise of carrying out a maximum of events within the capital.

However, we will still have to wait to know the final decision. Still according to the Team: the board of directors should examine these choices in mid-July.
