A vast poaching network that drew its resources mainly from Chandler and New Richmond, in the southern Gaspé, was dismantled in the last few days after a long and meticulous investigation process that began in 2019 and which is qualified as “major” by the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, which had to mobilize about sixty of its men.

More than 90 people were targeted by wildlife protection officers in this operation called Comodo.
The amount of fines issued to poachers at the time of this writing was over $250,000. The main offenses concern the sale and purchase of more than 1,000 striped bass, but also moose, deer and black bear gallbladder.
