In March 2021, Thierry Lhermitte confided to Michel Cymes that he was affected on a daily basis by a fairly rare disease: prosopagnosia, characterized by a difficulty or an inability to identify faces. For several years, the actor admitted to having trouble recognizing the faces of people he knew. Diagnosed ten years ago with this very rare disease, the star of Splendid had revealed the time when he had not recognized his own sister: “I hadn’t seen her for two years because she was abroad. She arrives, and I didn’t know she was in Paris… And so, by the time she arrives from ten meters, I say to myself ‘I’ve already seen this person, who it is, who it is. ‘is ?‘”, he laughed.
This Saturday, May 21, on the antenna of RTL, Thierry Lhermitte entrusted a new health problem of which he was the victim but this time with much more seriousness in the voice and the tone. After evoking the distress of the character he plays in Men on the verge of a nervous breakdown, the one who will celebrate his 70th birthday next fall admitted to having himself experienced complicated moments during his life and career. At the microphone of Eric Dussart and Jade, he admitted to having been the victim of a terrible burn-out. “It happened to me, not so long ago, when I was on tour a few years ago”he said. “I couldn’t anymore, I was going crazy”he conceded, before ensuring that he was better today. “I took the right meds, talked to the right people and it calmed down. Once I had the right treatment it went very very fast, the effect was clear and clear within a few days“concluded the actor.
On May 25, Thierry Lhermitte will be in dark rooms on the bill of Men on the verge of a nervous breakdownthe latest film from director Audrey Dana (Under girls’ skirts). Alongside him, the cast is made up of actors Ramzy Bedia, François-Xavier Demaison, Laurent Stocker, Michaël Gregorio and actress Marina Hands.
