Hail, rain, winds, the Sarthe was crossed by a storm this Friday, May 20, in the morning. The bad weather mainly affected the North and North-West of the department.
The firefighters intervened a hundred times in 2h30 this Friday morning because of this storm. There were no injuries, most of the damage was material: pockmarked roofs, lots of flooding and torn electrical wires. At 11 o’clock, 1,500 homes are without electricity according to Enedis.
The Sarthe is placed in yellow vigilance for thunderstorms by Météo France.
Hailstones the size of a ping pong ball
In Conlie the storm hit “twice, around 9 a.m.”this Friday morning, reports the mayor. “With us, there is no serious damage”says Christian Lemasson. “The hailstones were the size of a ping-pong ball”specifies the elected official who was cleaning the streets of the town at the end of the morning.
