(Ottawa) A month and a half after announcing her resignation as leader of the Green Party of Canada (GSC), here is Annamie Paul announces that she has officially informed the formation of her resignation – and also, that she is tearing up his membership card.
“Today, I sent a formal notice of my resignation to the SSC. I will also be terminating my SSC membership. It has been an honor to work for Canadians, and I look forward to serving in other ways, ”she wrote on Twitter Wednesday, in English only.
On September 27, after a vote with disastrous results, Annamie Paul declared at a press conference that she was starting her “process” of resignation as leader of the Green Party. She’ll have hung on for at least a month and a half.
The team must now accept his resignation. According to former Deputy Chief Daniel Green, this needs to be done quickly if any confusion is to be cleared up.
He himself is skeptical. “Annamie Paul has already played tricks on us in terms of uncertainty. She had announced that she was going to resign, but there, we realized that it was a media announcement and not contractual, ”he blurted out in an interview.
Disputes over clauses in his contract would have dragged the process out, according to reports to Press several sources aware of the negotiations.
There was also, behind the scenes, the issue of the pursuit that Mr.me Paul had filed against his training when his leadership was in jeopardy – the resigning leader demanded reimbursement for legal costs incurred in this crusade in court.
It has not been possible to confirm whether this case has been resolved as of this writing on Wednesday. But the party has shown “good faith” by withdrawing the appeal that had been lodged in the Superior Court of Ontario, argues Daniel Green.
“And there, now, it must end”, he slices.
“If it’s true that we are a nest of racists …”
What does Daniel Green think of the fact that Mr.me Paul tears up his green card? After being content to offer that she was “free” to do so, there is a joke, which he accompanies with a free translation of a line by Woody Allen at the opening of the film. Annie hall.
“After all, if it’s true what she says, that we are a nest of racists … As Woody Allen says. [qui paraphrasait dans le film une blague de Groucho Marx], why would I remain a member of an organization that would accept me as a member? He argues on the other end of the phone.
As she faced an internal sling, last June, the leader accused of racism – and sexism – some members of the Federal Training Council who sought to eject her.
In the federal election on September 20, the Green Party fell in support, obtaining 2.3% of the vote compared to 6.6% in 2019, when Elizabeth May was in charge of the party.
In Quebec, the formation garnered 1.5% of the vote. There were many bones of contention between the leader and the Quebec wing, to the point where the latter gave birth to a platform to which Mr.me Paul had not participated.
The former deputy to the resigned chief, Victoria Galea, did not answer questions from The Press, Wednesday.
