Faouzi Mansouri, former defender of Montpellier and Algeria, is dead

Nîmes at the start, pailladin at the finish. Winner of the Gambardella with Nîmes Olympique, in 1977, Faouzi Mansouri had started his professional career with the crocos, before going to Béziers and then signing for Montpellier, in 1981.

The following year, he flew to Spain where he played in his first World Cup, notably with a memorable victory against Germanyin the group stage.

In Louis Nicollin’s club, the defender will have played 61 gameswith a first freelance of two years until 1983, then a return in 1985, before ending his career a year later, after a second world, in Mexico.

He had then, like many former proteges of Loulou, integrated the family business. Today, the whole group, the club and the lovers of the MHSC have a moved thought for his loved ones, in particular his wife Isabelle and his son Mikis.
