From now on, to guarantee their security, the two countries have officially announced that they want to join NATO on Sunday, May 15. Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Finland against a possible response. NATO assured that both countries would be protected, pending full membership. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was an electric shock for the two Scandinavian nations.
“The Finns, who know the Soviet Union perfectly, saw the unpredictability of Mr. Putin, which worried them”explains Jean-Paul Paloméros, former Chief of Staff of the Air Force. “A new era is dawning insofar as NATO and the European Union will find even more geopolitical coherence”he analyzes.
