A fresco of 25 meters long and two meters high was inaugurated this Monday, May 16 on the farm of Étienne Fourmont, a farmer followed by nearly 100,000 people on social networks. This dairy and grain farmer based in Viré-en-Champagne (Sarthe), on the border with Mayenne, was the victim of antispeciesists.
On the night of December 31 to January 1, 2020, opponents of animal farming tagged on a wall of the farm “2020 – ABOLITION”. Nine people were sentenced by the criminal court of Le Mans on March 31, 2022. They received hours of community service, a fine and a suspended prison sentence.
A fresco to promote peace
A huge tag replaces this inscription. In the center, a hand with grains of wheat and a cow from the farm named Pirouette are represented. In the background, the Sarthe countryside, with a field and a village. On either side of this painting, the words “Peace” and “Food” are written.

The objective is clear for the farmer Étienne Fourmont: “I wanted to overlay the message of hate with a message of peace.”
The fresco, of which the price remains secretwas funded by “The Z’homnivores”, a collective from the world of agriculture and the food industry. Its spokesperson Yves Fantou is campaigning for the “food freedom”. “Our collective reflects and works on our messages: we consider that man has the right to raise and slaughter animals to feed on them.”
