Friday, May 13, the 13 Hours wonders about rising property prices. Indeed, city dwellers leave the big cities, which increases the property in the surrounding municipalities.

Friday, May 13, near Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a town of 30,000 inhabitants sees the prices of its housing increase. Marie Martinez left Strasbourg to come to the countryside. Parisians and city dwellers are fleeing the big cities. A real estate agent receives twice as many requests as available properties. “We are on 133 m² of living space and we are at 499,000 euros, agency fees included (…) the average price ten years ago was still significantly lower”says Julien Bogula, director of the Laforêt agency in Schiltigheim (Bas-Rhin).

In the Bas-Rhin, property prices increased by 4.3% in one year and 16% in five years. For some experts, small budgets can take the opportunity to buy. “We know that we are entering a period where interest rates will continue to rise. As a result, it is very important for households to anticipate this increase”, explains Barbara Castillo Rico, head of economic studies, best agents. Prices are rising everywhere, except in Paris.
