In Kharkiv (Ukraine), Russian soldiers were forced to withdraw on Saturday May 14. A rout for the forces of Moscow who face strong resistance.
The suburbs of Kharkiv (Ukraine) bear the traces of recent fighting. For two months, this region was occupied by the Russian army. From now on, it is Ukrainian soldiers who hold the positions. “We pushed them back to the border”, welcomes one of them. Several columns of Russian armor were destroyed by anti-tank launchers. The counter-offensive intensified in early May, overwhelming Russian forces, pushed back 40 kilometers east of Kharkiv.
“There were very significant losses on the Russian side on short sequences in time“, explains Cédric Mas, military historian. A proof that there was a very strong Ukrainian resistance. This rout is added to that of kyiv more than a month ago. Today, Kharkiv, the big city in the east of the country, is no longer within reach of Russian artillery.
