It is the return of the terror of the drug cartels in Colombia, less than three weeks before the presidential election. A criminal organization has taken hostage a hundred municipalities in retaliation after the extradition to the United States of their leader.
The streets are completely deserted in the city of Apartado in Colombia. A curfew has been imposed by a drug cartel, one of the most powerful in the country. The initials of the cartel are present all over the walls. The population, frightened, complied. “It’s very cruel. All shops closed, restaurants, the bus terminal, everything is closed”commented a resident.
Law enforcement assassination, vehicle burning, criminals mean well to avenge, because their leader has just been extradited to the United States. The man is responsible for 30 % to 60% streams of cocaine leaving Colombia. His clan paralyzes the northwest region of the country. The police are distraught. The ministers try to reassure the population. “As of this evening, we have deployed 2,000 additional men”said the Colombian Minister of Defense. In this context, an anti-drug prosecutor was murdered in Paraguay while on honeymoon.
