Firefighters were called at 6:20 p.m. on Friday to a fire in an AMLI residence which houses independent housing for seniorslocated rue du Lavoir, in the Sablon district, in Metz. It was a nurse who gave the alert and the firefighters deployed an important device to evacuate this residence.
One injured in absolute emergency, the others in relative emergency
In total, 90 firefighters were mobilized on this intervention, with about thirty vehicles. The 70 residents had to be evacuated. They were gathered in a municipal hall.
Seriously injured by burns, a 67-year-old woman was taken to hospital. Initially, the firefighters also took care of five slightly injured people, intoxicated by the smoke. At 10 p.m., we learned that one of them also had to be hospitalized.
The duty sub-prefect is on the scene and the city of Metz has dispatched an elected official to the scene. Now is the time for the census of relocation needs.
