The Colmar Court of Appeal confirmed this Friday the conviction of Mulhouse Olympic Swimming (MON) in the financial dispute which opposed it to swimmer Yannick Agnel, learned from a judicial source France Bleu Alsace.
On July 7, 2020, the club was ordered at first instance to pay 60,000 euros to the Olympic champion. This sum corresponds to the non-payment of his last year of contract with the club. In a contract signed by the two parties in 2014, Mulhouse Olympic Swimming had undertaken to pay the swimmer up to 60,000 euros per year.
The club, however, considered that Yannick Agnel had not respected his commitments by ending his sports career in August 2016, after the Rio Olympics. The plaintiff’s lawyer argued that his client had participated in other competitions under the colors of the club.
In addition, a preliminary investigation was opened in January 2020 into the management of Mulhouse Olympic Swimming. She was entrusted to the financial brigade of the judicial police.
In another case, Yannick Agnel was indicted in December 2021 for rape and sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor, after a complaint from the daughter of his former Mulhouse trainer Lionel Horter.
