Christopher Walken will be the Emperor in the Dune sequel

Actor Christopher Walken will play the role of the Emperor in the second part of Duneswhich Denis Villeneuve is due to shoot in the fall, reports Deadline.

Sources confirmed to the specialized media that the 79-year-old actor will join an all-star cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, who will reprise their roles, as well as Florence Pugh and Austin Butler, who will their arrival in the new film. Christopher Walken, seen in more than 100 plays, TV shows and films since the 1950s, has already won an Oscar for his supporting role in The Deer Hunter (1978).

The Legendary studio declined to comment on the information from Deadline. It is nevertheless certain that Denis Villeneuve will be back to write the screenplay, in the company of Jon Spaihts, and to direct this second film based on the work of Frank Herbert. Following Dunes is set to hit theaters on October 20, 2023. The first installment, released last October, grossed over US$400 million at box offices worldwide.
