More and more of you are using comparators on the internet to find the most interesting service station or store near you. Are these comparators reliable?

Find the best price for your fuel, your food shopping, your rental car or even your future trips. Online price comparisons are multiplying. One of them lists the price differences between supermarkets. To Bordeaux (Gironde) for example, the monthly shopping basket of a couple goes from 478 euros to 600 euros depending on the supermarket, i.e. a possible saving of 122 euros by choosing well. But are these sites still reliable?

We did the test in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), by examining three online fuel comparators at the same service station. On site, the prices displayed by the first two comparators are the correct ones. The third site, which is supplied by individuals, is therefore not up to date. We must be wary according to a consumer association, because behind these platforms sometimes hide merchant sites. In France, seven out of ten people use these online comparators.
