A sign that spring is already well underway, La Ronde amusement park will open its doors to visitors on May 21.
Thus, the company managed to fill the 600 seasonal positions needed to be able to operate all summer.
To be competitive and be able to recruit employees, La Ronde held two open house days, in addition to increasing the hourly wage to $15/h, which is more than the minimum wage.
Karina Thevenin, spokesperson for La Ronde, says that for young people, it is very advantageous to work for the amusement park.
“Spending the whole summer here, not just working, but they have tickets for friends and family, they can ride on the days off too,” she explains.
However, La Ronde will have to begin a new hiring process at the end of the summer when all young employees will return to school.
La Ronde not only took advantage of its seasonal closure to recruit employees, but also to ensure that all attractions were still safe.
“It starts the first day after the park closes in the fall. It is on an annual basis that we have people who work both in the structure and in the garages. All inspections are carried out according to the standards in effect,” explains Francis Girouard, maintenance and construction manager at La Ronde.
