Several shots were fired on Dumouchel Avenue, in the Chomedey sector of Laval, Monday afternoon. Despite a large number of people nearby, there were no injuries.

The emergency services were notified because of the numerous detonations heard, around 2:25 p.m. Once there, several casings were found on the ground, according to Stéphanie Beshara, public affairs officer for the Laval police.

Avenue Dumouchel, a small street running alongside a school in the center of Laval, is lined with several low-rent residential buildings. The shots were fired near the buildings, said Mr.me Beshara. “People, last I heard, weren’t really cooperating,” she adds. Monday evening, M.me Beshara was also unable to say how many people, or suspects, were in the vicinity of the shooting.

Police, a dog handler and investigators were dispatched. They’re going to interview the neighborhood – a large number of people – to see if they witnessed the shooting.

Sunday, also in Laval, Junior Lemoyne Printemps, 28, was shot and killed on Curé-Labelle Boulevard while he was in a Dodge Charger with four members of his family, after a family celebration. A 14-year-old boy was also seriously injured. Neither the deceased nor the other passengers were known to the police.

According to various police and criminal sources, the conflict between two Laval street gangs could be the cause of the events.

Other shots in Villeray

A few hours later, another shooting broke out, this time in the borough of Villeray in Montreal. According to preliminary information from the Montreal City Police Department, the shots were fired from a moving vehicle at the corner of Avenue des Érables and Rue Tillemont, around 8:45 p.m. Monday . This time again, the event caused no injuries.

When police arrived, the suspects had fled. People were on the scene, but the SPVM could not confirm Monday evening if they were targeted by the shots, or simple witnesses.

Several casings were found at the scene, as well as a projectile impact on a building.

A perimeter has been erected and an investigation is opened. Forensic identification technicians and a canine unit were also dispatched to the scene to better understand the scene. “We are at the very beginning of the investigation,” said Mariane Allaire Morin, spokesperson for the SPVM. We should have more information during the evening. »
