“1:15 p.m. on Sunday”. Reunion, the island of legends > Episodes 3 & 4 – France 2 – May 8, 2022

This series in four episodes of the magazine “1:15 p.m. on Sunday” (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.), signed Paul Degenève, Jean-Baptiste Jacquet, Elise Leynier and Guillaume Salasca, takes the direction of the island of Reunion. Paradise of water and fire, volcano in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a territory where adventurers live to the rhythm of eruptions and waves. And like any wild territory, this island can be as beautiful as it is dangerous.

In March 1977, night had just fallen on the commune of Sainte-Rose, located to the east of this French overseas department and region. Piton de la Fournaise, an active volcano on the island culminating at an altitude of 2,632 metres, has erupted! The inhabitants understand that the lava is heading straight for their houses…

The danger under the sea

The sea also carries risks. Sharks cross near the coasts but solutions are put in place to protect tourists and surfers from the most dangerous species for humans.

Julien will remember this day all his life. He thought he had taken all the precautions, but it wasn’t enough. Victim of a shark attack, how did he get out of it and how did his family experience it?
