Guest of 8:30 a.m. from franceinfo, Jean-François Copé deplores a “waste of time” on the part of Emmanuel Macron, who has still not appointed a Prime Minister or given the main guidelines for his second term.

There is a “climate of unpreparedness” from Emmanuel Macron in the first days of his second term, “That’s what surprises me the most”declares Sunday May 8 on franceinfo Jean-François Copé, LR mayor of Meaux, the day after the inauguration of Emmanuel Macron.

The former president of the UMP and former minister of Jacques Chirac believes that there is a “contrast between this kind of period when nothing happens at all, and at the same time the urgency of the subjects”, such as the war in Ukraine, purchasing power, security or pension reform. According to Jean-François Copé, “we can understand it if there is a political alternation, but here there is no political alternation”.

“All this waste of time is difficult for the French to understand”affirms Jean-François Copé, who believes that there is “new decisions to make” and that it is necessary “fast enough for the President of the Republic to tell us what he intends to do”mainly on pension reform. “We still don’t know what the main directions are” of the quinquennium, he laments. “Whoever can say what the program for this five-year term will be, he is very strong, because we have heard everything and its opposite!”he quips.

Mayor LR of Meaux thinks that “state authority” is “the big missing link in Mr. Macron’s speech” during his inauguration. “There is no one to embody that in the name of the Republic”according to him.
