The Hungarian state spares no effort to encourage families to become large. And those who have decided to expand benefit from numerous aids and tax advantages in this country of the European Union “Family Friendly”… Extract from the magazine “We, the Europeans” broadcast on Sunday May 8, 2022 at 10:10 a.m. on France 3 .

Parks full of families where dozens of strollers intersect. Scenes of daily life that are today the pride of Hungary, a country whose national priority is to have children at all costs. In the village of Nagyréde, to the east of the capital Budapest, lives a family like the Hungarian government would like to see more often: a large family… and very large indeed.

The mother Katalin Torda is happy to present to the magazine “We, the Europeans” (replay) her five children, the oldest of whom is twelve years old and the youngest just one year old: “It’s like kindergarten.” A sibling of boys that takes up a lot of space. To no longer live in cramped conditions, the family has therefore launched major works: “Here, we did the plaster, the paint, the parquet and even the insulation”explains dad Krisztian.

A lifetime tax exemption with more than three children

The couple received 16,500 euros to pay for part of these arrangements. An allowance that the Hungarian state reserves only for families: “All we have today is really thanks to aid. To build everything here, it took us about three or four years. Without this money, it would have taken maybe seventeen!” says the father of the family.

The generosity of the government is not limited to the work of the house as evidenced by the brand new car of the home. A spacious model with seven seats. This is the condition to benefit from a new subsidy: “We received a great aid of 7,000 euros. The model just had to cost more than 14,000 euros. I think we got a good deal!” And because she has given birth to more than three children, Katalin is also tax-exempt for life.
